Seattle Playwrights Salon presents a staged reading of Les Lumieres by Judy Jacobs on Friday August 11 at 7 p.m. at the Conservatory, 5813 Airport Way South, Seattle 98108. Admission is free! Beer, wine, cider, and food available for purchase before and after the show, and during intermission.
As the clock runs down on Nineteenth Century Paris, time is running out for American dancer Loie Fuller. The Great Paris Exposition next year may be her one chance to gain world exposure for her innovative Ballets Lumieres. Determined to get into the fair, Loie makes plans to be the first performer to dance in a talking picture, until her plans are blocked by French resistance from a most unexpected source.
Directed by Bill Selig, and starring Christine Longe, Kate Szyperski, Jane Cater, John Empey, and Barbara Lindsay (Stage Directions).
The Conservatory is a Seattle art space and coffeehouse, community meeting place, and artists' workshop in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood, a growing and glowing arts haven in Seattle near I-5, just north of Boeing Field. The Seattle Playwrights Salon produces new play readings and full productions on the second Friday of every month at The Conservatory to give local playwrights a public place to present new work in development to a live audience.
