The 22 Festál cultural celebrations highlight The Common forms of tradition and expression among ethnic communities in the Pacific Northwest, while underscoring their unique creative contributions, customs, foods and ideals. Our 2010 "Did you know" will explore some of these commonalities and differences.

Did you know? The greatest sources of Persian cultural pride are the ancient Persian Empire, poetry, scholars, Persopolis, rugs and carpets. The 12th century Persian poet, Rumi, is currently one of the most widely read poets in America. Iranians' most popular foods include Fesenjan, a Persian stew made of pomegranate and walnuts, and other stews on basmati rice. Many Iranians in Iran make their livelihood through rug making, oil, caviar, pomegranate cultivation and pistachios.

Seattle Center Festál: Iranian Festival is presented by Seattle Center in partnership with the Iranaian American Community Alliance. For a full event schedule, visit www.iaca-seattle.org.
