Seattle Center Festál presents Tet Festival - Vietnamese Lunar New Year, in 2012 celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, Jan 21 and 22, at Fisher Pavilion, Fisher Roof and Seattle Center Pavilion. This year, Tet rings in the Year of the Dragon.
Explore Vietnamese cultural roots going back 1,000 years and experience the contemporary influences of Vietnam through live performances, hands-on activities, over 20 food and game vendors, special bamboo rice cooking contests, crafts, martial arts, and Ki Xi (Lucky Money) giveaways.
The 2012 T?t Festival schedule includes:
Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna, Seattle Deputy Mayor Darryl Smith and Seattle Center Director Robert Nellams will participate in opening cermonies at 11 a.m. on Satuday, Jan 21.
Tet in Seattle is a fully volunteer organization, from the members who make up the organizing committee to the performers on the days of the festival. Tet in Seattle exists through the efforts and contributions of many year-round participants, who are dedicated to promoting and preserving Vietnamese culture through the celebration of Tet.
The 21 Seattle Center Festál cultural celebrations highlight The Common forms of tradition and expression among ethnic communities in the Pacific Northwest, while underscoring their unique creative contributions, customs, foods and ideals. Each event offers moving entertainment and fascinating insight into a different culture of the world.
