Today, the Seattle Theatre Group announced the 14th annual DANCE This lineup and program to be held on Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th, at 7:30PM, at the historic Moore Theatre, with two student matinee performances (not open to public) on July 12th and 13th. DANCE This brings together local teen dancers and guest artists from diverse communities performing cross-cultural dances-both traditionally rooted and contemporary in form, sharing their culture through the art of dance.
This year's DANCE This is a fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese, Hip Hop, Modern, Tibetan, African, and Musical Theatre, and features over 80 dancers performing a world tour of diverse dance styles. Special guest artist, Danny Soto, will stage "Zombie" an excerpt from the Tony Award winning Broadway Musical, Fela! originally choreographed by Bill T. Jones. Plus, Seattle's own, Mark Haim will be presenting a modern piece, performed by auditioned teen dancers.

VIETNAMESE, featuring local dance group, Âu L?c Vovinam Lion Dance Team -- fifteen young dancers perform a traditional Vietnamese lion dance. http://aulacvovinam.org/Default.aspx

EMERGING ARTIST CONTEMPORARY, featuring a new work by a teen choreographer Jasmine Ramgotra, from STG's Young Choreographer's Lab, danced by auditioned teen dancers
TIBETAN, a traditional Tibetan blessing dance piece performed by six young dancers from Tsering Lodoe's Tibetan Language and Culture Class
MODERN, choreographed by nationally renowned choreographer, Mark Haim,seven dancers perform around an oversized table in the piece "Settings and Clearings"
MUSICAL THEATRE, from the Tony Award winning Broadway Musical, Fela!, dancers perform an excerpt with original choreography by Bill T. Jones, staged by guest artist Danny Soto, who will also perform a featured solo
AFRICAN Dance and Music, Etienne Cakpo in collaboration with Siya Manyakanyaka, brings traditional and contemporary Africa dance styles. Dancers from the dance group Gansango will be performing African Passages, with live music accompaniment
Guest artists from Spectrum Dance Theater will be featured in Fela! and African Passages
