Created by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, AileyCamp is an innovative program that uses disciplined dance training, creative writing instruction, personal development, and communication courses, to help campers develop a respect for themselves and others that meaningfully impacts their lives. Conceived in 1989, this vital program has reached thousands of youth across the country, providing direction and hope to youth who are most in need of knowing there can be a bright future.
STG AileyCamp is currently seeking donations to fund the annual program. Those wishing to make a donation may do so online by visiting stgpresents.org/education/aileycamp.
ABOUT PROPOSITION 1 (ACCESS FOR ALL) On August 1, 2017 Access For All will go before voters in King County as Proposition 1. It is a measure that, if passed, will transform access to arts, science and heritage experiences for ALL King County residents. The proposed sales tax increase of 0.1% ($30 a year for the average household) will dramatically increase equity and access for kids and families throughout King County. STG is currently able to provide access to countless Education and Community programs, serving over 40,000 students and low income residents a year. Proposition 1 will enable STG to substantially grow existing free services like STG AileyCamp, while also allowing us to launch new programs, such as a FREE ARTS FESTIVAL and ensure that every blockbuster musical has free performances with safe transportation for King County students.
