STG Announces 2017-2018 Dance Season

L-E-V Mark Morris Dance Group Kidd Pivot and Electric Company Theatre Dorrance Dance Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and The 20th Annual DANCE This (Seattle, WA) - Seattle Theatre Group announces its 2017-2018 Dance Season, highlighting some of the best dance artistry from around the world. Blending the classic with the unconventional, this series of diverse programming features longtime favorites Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Mark Morris Dance Group, innovative contemporary works from Kidd Pivot/Electric Company Theatre and Dorrance Dance, a Seattle premiere of L-E-V, and the 20th Anniversary of DANCE This. L-E-V - "OCD LOVE" Moore Theatre November 14, 2017 Israeli dance ensemble L-E-V, led by dancer Sharon Eyal and multimedia event designer Gai Behar, is the confluence of movement, music, lighting, fashion, art and technology. The company's Seattle premiere offers the new creation "OCD LOVE," a piece about love, love that always misses, or lovers who keep missing each other. Accompanied by the original music of Ori Lichtik and delivered by fiercely talented dancers that move with expressive precision, L-E-V could be equally at home at a techno club or opera house.
Mark Morris DANCE GROUP - "SGT. PEPPER AT 50: PEPPERLAND" Moore Theatre February 16-18, 2018 Mark Morris DANCE GROUP presents the Seattle premiere of its unique tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Resounding with the ingenuity, musicality, wit, and humanity for which the company is known, PEPPERLAND features an original score by Ethan Iverson that blends arrangements of songs from the groundbreaking album with new Pepper-inspired pieces.

KIDD PIVOT / ELECTRIC COMPANY THEATRE - "BETROFFENHEIT" Presented in Association with On the Boards Moore Theatre March 23 & 24, 2018 Back by popular demand, KIDD PIVOT AND ELECTRIC COMPANY THEATRE'S "BETROFFENHEIT" integrates movement, original music, text and rich visual design to convey the state of shock and bewilderment that encompasses you in the wake of a disaster. This creation by two of Canada's most celebrated companies is an innovative, boundary-stretching hybrid of theatre and dance.

DORRANCE DANCE Moore Theatre April 7, 2018 DORRANCE DANCE highlights the traditional elements of tap dance in a contemporary light with an exciting program featuring three innovative works, all of which are Seattle premieres: Three to One, a unique blend of tap and modern dance; Jungle Blues, a high-energy display of heel stomps, shoulder shimmies, and acrobatic splits and flips; and Myelination, an ambitious work featuring 12 dancers and a full instrumental band.
