Adapted from the classic novel by Miguel de Cervantes by Anne Ludlum (Kate and Isabel) and David Quicksall (Book-It Repertory's Frankenstein), and directed by Gregory Award-winner Shawn Belyea (Balagan's August: Osage County, Theater Anonymous' Witness for the Prosecution). Follow the hilariously awful adventures of Don Quixote through a series of unfortunate events as the delusional madman, believing himself to be a knight, finds himself and his devoted sidekick, Sancho Panza, in all sorts of scrapes, brawls, and cataclysmic misunderstandings. Comedy, tragedy, and farce collide in this high-energy production featuring an ensemble of actors from grades 5 to 8 in a production suitable for the entire family.
"I can't tell you how excited this makes me," says playwright David Quicksall. "This adaptation has been done all over the country, primarily in schools and youth groups and I have been dying to finally see it in action! This is a really fun, juicy, and poignant story for young actors to tear into. I'm very excited to have Shawn directing it."
"This is a terrific adaptation," says SPT Artistic and Education Director, Shana Bestock. "It is also a terrific opportunity to impress upon young artists that scripts do not in fact grow on trees but come from real live storytellers, sometimes right here in our own community!"
Don Quixote is directed by Shawn Belyea, and features the acting talents Aiavel Goldman, Anya Jones, Austin O`Fallon, Calista Toy, Ellen Yealim Lee, Finn Hammen, Griffin Cheng, James Brammer, Jasmine Anderson, John Lofstrom, Noah Mark, Owen Kerins, Sam Sheets, Sebastian Pallais-Aks, and Sylvie Knox. Don Quixote is assistant directed by Sofia Truzzi, stage managed by Katherine Draves and assistant stage managed by Rachel Ferguson and Maggie Partlow. Featuring Sound Design by Gabe Airth and Lighting Design by Finn Johnson.
