Seattle Public Theater's (SPT) Youth Program presents a treasure trove of classic fairy tales cast into a modern context with Bluebeard's Wife: Dark Fairy Tales Re-Imagined for Our Time, directed by SPT Artistic Associate, Kelly Kitchens.
Four [free] performances: Friday, March 14 @ 7pm, Saturday, March 15 @ 2pm & 7pm, and Sunday, March 16 @ 2pm. Admission to all youth performances are free to the community. Donations are encouraged to support SPT's Theater Education Program and to offer student tuition assistance.
ABOUT BLUEBEARD'S WIFE-Renowned adapter and director Kelly Kitchens (Book-It's She's Come Undone, SPT's 2012-13 mainstage production of The Understudy and their 2013-14 season closer, Tom Stoppard's Arcadia) invites you on a journey through tales mysterious, hilarious, creepy, and romantic. Developed through a dynamic, self-generated workshop process, Kitchens' ensemble have given voice to a handful of haunting cautionary tales of old like "The Snow Queen" and "Little Red Riding Hood", transporting these stories to the classrooms and cafes of our modern lives.
Directed by Kelly Kitchens, Bluebeard's Wife: Dark Fairy Tales Re-Imagined for Our Time features the acting talents of Aaron Sterne, Aliza Cosgrove, Arlo Hooper, Bridget Boyle, David Moody, Eileen MacDonald, Finn Hammen, Gabriella O`Fallon, Hazel Montgomery, Junia Paulus, Lucius Shafer, Madeleine Kopf-Patterson, Margaux Daniel, Nora Hammen, Oscar Loveless, RubyRose Gonzalez, and Tessa Weinland. The production is stage-managed by Katherine Draves with the additional talents of Devon Cantrell (Lighting Design), Isaac Hazlehurst-Johnson (Sound Design), Rachel Warshaw (Costumes and Makeup), and Daniel Windus (Run Crew).
