Seattle Public Theater (SPT) is proud to host The Hats We Wear: A Night of One-Acts, a series of plays exploring the different paths we take in life and where they might lead us. This play festival is produced by S3 Productions, a trio of high-school students from SPT's youth ensemble.
Two [Free] performances, Saturday, May 4
th @ 2pm and Sunday, May 5
th @ 7pm presented at Seattle Public Theater in the historic Bathhouse on Green Lake.
The Hats We Wear: A Night of One-Acts brings three intriguing and starkly honest plays all celebrating the themes of life, death, love and just a bit of suspense.
In Laura Jacquim's Airborne, directed by Sofia Truzzi, a nineteen year-old soldier in the middle of airborne training plummets from the skies when her parachute malfunctions. She shares with the audience what she experiences in the last 4 minutes of her life. Recommended for ages 13 and over.
Post-Its (Notes on a Marriage), written by
Paul Dooley and
Winnie Holtzman, shares a sweet love story told entirely through Post-It notes--a tale that spans the duration of a couple's entire life together. Post-Its explores the ups and downs of a relationship that was unexpectedly captured on scraps of paper. Sophie von Veh directs.
Lucille Fletcher's Sorry, Wrong Number, directed by Sara Albertson, retells the classic suspense story a woman who accidentally overhears a murder plot.
"As young actors, we know the power of what theater is capable of," says S3 Productions director and co-producer Sophie von Veh. "Our goal is to find emotions in the audience and in ourselves, and to explore what we as student producers, directors, and actors can achieve. We want to use our knowledge and love of theater and give to you, our audience, an amazing night full of joy, sadness, suspense, and love (to name a few)."
Seattle Public Theater is devoted to mentoring theater students in their efforts to produce quality live theater. We seek to create opportunities for our students that will challenge them beyond a single-part theatrical learning experience by delving deeper into the work to create an entire, fully formed, production. We encourage students to challenge themselves toward wider aspects of theatrical production, from what is seen on the stage to the budgeting, management, and the components of pre- and post-production.
The Hats We Wear: A Night of One-Acts plays Saturday, May 4th @ 2pm and Sunday, May 5th @ 7pm at Seattle Public Theater. Admission is FREE.
