Seattle Public Theater presents its third annual production of Wayne Rawley's Christmastown: A Holiday Noir. In this film-noir inspired holiday thriller, hard-boiled detective Nick Holiday investigates some un-holiday-like shenanigans taking place in Christmastown. Add a glamorous elf, a muckraking reporter, and a sinister corporate plot, and you've got what the Seattle Times called "the best new holiday romp" in 2014.
Interim Managing Director Michael Selby describes the production as "a holiday show for people who hate Christmas." Says Selby: "Society puts so much cultural weight into Christmas and all of its associated traditions and customs that it can feel a bit overwhelming, even as we revel in all the sparkling lights. In contrast, the nature of noir is to be a little dark. Rawley takes this frame of reference, plus an encyclopedic knowledge of Christmas classics, and shakes it all together in a hilarious snowglobe of a show."
Christmastown: A Holiday Noir runs from December 2nd through December 24th at the Bathhouse in Green Lake.
