Opium Productions announced today that Poppy Fields, the Dixieland Diva and one-half of Mack & Poppy, America's best least-known lounge act, will debut her solo show, Poppy Fields: In Heat, for three performances only on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 at 9pm and Sunday, October 23 at 7pm at the Cavern Club Celebrity Theater, inside Casita Del Campo Restaurant in Silver Lake.
Performing solo for the first time, showgirl, chanteuse, and Southern Belle Poppy Fields will take her audiences on a madcap musical journey through her life and loves. From her adolescence in sleepy Possum Trot, Alabama, through her escapades in New York City to her days strutting the Las Vegas stage as a showgirl, no juicy detail is kept secret and no skeleton is left closeted as Poppy bears her soul (and possibly more) in this evening of song, laughter, and sparkle.
Christopher Graham (Poppy Fields) grew up in a small Alabama town just up the road from Poppy's stomping grounds of Possum Trot and, like Poppy, got out of Alabama as quickly as he could. Over the course of his more than 25 years in the theatre he has appeared in numerous plays and musicals across the country including The Lost Colony, numerous productions of Fiddler on the Roof, A Chorus Line, multiple productions of 42nd Street, and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth. Graham has choreographed regional theatre productions of Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I, Anything Goes, 42nd Street, and more. For six years he was a director, choreographer, and performing member of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles. He is the co-creator of 'America's Best Least-Known Lounge Act,' Mack & Poppy, and alongside co-creator Tod Macofsky (as Mack Diamond) has starred as Poppy Fields in It's Christmas! (And Other Holidays Celebrated by Heathens), Mack & Poppy: 'Til Death Do Us Part, It's Christmas! (F#*k the Mayans), The Patriot Act, and Let It Snow! (which recently won two StageSceneLA.com Scenie Awards for Best Ensemble Cast- Musical Revue, Cabaret, or Nightclub, and Outstanding Musical Direction-Intimate Theatre, for John Randall).
Poppy Fields: In Heat is written by Graham and John Stancari. musical direction and arrangements are by John Randall (featured as Jack Cheddar with his Trio), and the show is directed by acclaimed director Jim Fall (Trick, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Wedding Wars).
