TINY KUSHNER by Tony Kushner makes its Northwest premiere at New City Theater, Sept. 20 to Oct. 6. Get a first look at the production in the photos below!

TINY KUSHNER had its world premiere in a Guthrie Theater - Berkeley Repertory Theatre co-production. The playscript will be published by TCG press in December 2012. TINY KUSHNER is Five Plays in One: a collection of short plays by Kushner written between 2002 - 2009. Four of the five plays are centered upon a unique historical American event or personality and all five plays are thematically linked by Kushner's singular voice and socio-political point of view - ideally savored during the final months of the Presidential election season. Travel to the moon - and to the afterlife - with Laura Bush, Nixon's analyst, the Queen of Albania and a host of real-life tax evaders, all adrift in an increasingly fragile world.

FLIP FLOP FLY: Miss St. Louis of 1926, veteran of the Zeigfield Follies, bandleader, concert pianist, & radio-and-television personality, Lucia Pamela and Queen Geraldine of Albania, deposed and exiled in 1939 by Mussolini, meet on the moon, in the afterlife. (with Mary Ewald & Cozy Josephson)

TERMINATING OR SONNET LXXV OR "LASS MEINE SCHMERZEN NICHT VERLOREN SEIN" OR AMBIVALENCE: The multiple title possibilities surround Hendryck, in session, with analyst Dr. Esther Zauber and both are accompanied by their invisible partners Billygoat (Hendryck) and Dymphna (Esther). (with SeanJohn Walsh, Mary Ewald, Michael Stock, & Cozy Josephson)

EAST COAST ODE TO HOWARD JARVIS: A little teleplay in tiny monologues Actress Amber Flame portrays 23 characters as Kushner imaginatively maps the historical 1992 tax evasion scheme that spread like a virus among New York City law enforcement employees.

DR. ARNOLD A. HUTSCHNECKER IN PARADISE: A session in the office of the psychoanalytic practice of Metatron, the Recording Angel, with Dr. Arnold A. Hutschnecker, the psychotherapist of Richard Milhous Nixon. (with SeanJohn Walsh & Mary Ewald)

ONLY WE WHO GUARD THE MYSTERY SHALL BE UNHAPPY*: The year is 2003, the month February, the invasion of Iraq is one month away. Laura Bush reads from her favorite novel The Brothers Karamazov to three dead Iraqi children in Heaven's library. (with Mary Ewald & Cozy Josephson)

*In February 2003 John Kazanjian staged a political cabaret, THEATER NOT FIT FOR THE WHITE HOUSE in New City's SODO WAREHOUSE. MOVE ON.ORG & Tony Kushner permitted arts organizations to stage the unreleased ..MYSTERY.. in such political protest events. The second act of the play was never written & TINY KUSHNER finally makes the play available for public staging.

The ensemble features Mary Ewald, SeanJohn Walsh, Amber Flame, Cozy Josephson, Michael Stock. Tiny Kushner is directed by John Kazanjian with light, sound and projections by Lindsay Smith.
