The Lakewood Playhouse is proud to present the second show of its 77th Season: A COMEDY OF ERRORS by William Shakespeare. This production will also mark the continuation of their year-long celebration of the 50th ANNIVERSARY of the very building we do all of their productions in - the Lakewood Playhouse Theatre. From TAMING OF THE SHREW in its first year to AVENUE Q at the end of this season, Lakewood will have presented over 300 productions at this venue, which was first built in 1965 by the Lakewood Arts Foundation.
This production is presented in the Lakewood Playhouse's "In the Round" configuration with seating surrounding the stage on all sides. With this unique viewing opportunity "A COMEDY OF ERRORS" will drop you right into the middle of this modern re-telling of one of the Bard's funniest plays. A COMEDY OF ERRORS will be directed by KRISTIE WORTHEY who is also the artistic director of Tacoma's Inside Out Shakespeare Company.
The production features a large cast filled with a number of returning actors from previous shows and some brand new performers to our stage, including: Frank Roberts (Dromio), Ben Stahl (Antipholus), Nastassia Reynolds (Luciana), Jodie Chapin (Adriana), Chris Johnstone (Mayor),Sabrina Ebengho (Nell), Cameron Waters (Aegeon), Jill Heinecke (Courtezan), Andrew Redford (Street Vendor / Performer), Isaac Gutierrez (Street Vendor / Performer), Tremar Baptiste (Angelo / St. Vendor/Performer), Adam King (Street Vendor / Performer), Ashley Mowreader (Balthazar / St. Vendor / Performer), Virginia Yanoff (Aemilia or Lady Abyss) and Rebecca Thorpe (Street Performer/ V endor / Conjurer @ Zombie Donuts).
It's "The MICROSOFT-ERS vs the PORTLANDI-ERS" in a good natured lampoon of techie hipster culture versus wheat-germy, bicycle riding, hippieish environs. Mix in lost twins, ID theft, feminist activists, eccentric new age spirit cleansers and a clueless politician and what do you get? An episode of Portlandia? No! It's William Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors." A fun house mirror reflection of life in the Northwest. A Lakewood Playhouse Premiere!
Parental Advisory: Suitable for all ages, but Shakespeare's colorful language can sometimes be considered to be "ribald" in its nature.
The play will be performed on Fridays, Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Performances will be November 6th through November 29th, with Special Showings at 8:00pm on Thursday, November 12th (Pay What You Can Night) and 8:00pm on Thursday, November 19th ("Pay What You Can" Actor's Benefit).
