Performances Extended Through June 2 For 5th Avenue Theatre And ACT's URINETOWN Image

The 5th Avenue Theatre and ACT - A Contemporary Theatre announced today that their co-production of Urinetown has been extended by popular demand, adding five performances through June 2. Urinetown, which is now in performances, is the Tony-nominated, unforgettable piece of theatrical satire that imagines the consequences when the tangle between capitalism and politics gets too complex to unwind. The 5th Avenue Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry directs.

Playing now through June 2, 2019 (press opening Thursday, April 11) at ACT - A Contemporary Theatre, tickets for all performances, including the newly added dates, can be purchased online at www.acttheatre.org, by phone at 206.292.1900, or in person at the ACT Box Office at 700 Union Street in Downtown Seattle.

"Urinetown is a musical that explores a huge part of what we're grappling with in our own country today," said Director Bill Berry. "At its heart, it's a fun and silly story about finding love, being free, and having basic human rights. We can't wait to share this season's collaboration with our savvy Seattle audiences."

This hilarious multi-Tony Award nominee is a political satire set in a fictional future where a terrible 20-year drought has crippled the city's water supplies. The citizens must now use the public pay-per-use amenities owned and operated by Urine Good Company. Citizens who try to circumvent the peeing fee by relieving themselves in the bushes risk being taken away to "Urinetown," a mysterious place where many have been sent but no one ever returns. With fee increases in the pipeline, the poor rise up to fight the tyrannical to make the public amenities free for all to use. Starring Mikko Juan, Sarah Rose Davis, Kurt Beattie, and Brandon O'Neill, Urinetown is an hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution.
