Balagan Theatre has moved into its new home on Capitol Hill, presenting four productions in eight weeks, including the third installment of one-act comedy festival Death, Sex and the return engagement of Broadway (and Seattle) smash-hit musical Spring Awakening.
Fancy Mud

After a series of successful workshop runs, absurdist trio Le Frenchword debuts the full-length version of "Fancy Mud;" a collection of abstract comedy vignettes bolstered by a pastiche of movement, music, and a deep and meaningful exploration of all things dumb.
Death, Sex 3: Election Season

What do you get when you put together a bunch of slightly-warped local writers, a cast of insanely funny actors, and an election season just ripe for the mocking? Death Sex 3: Election Season - your outlet for politician overload. Local writers each put forth a 5- to 20-minute play about death, sex… and politics. The plays are presented in repertory each night, so come more than once to experience every disturbingly hilarious moment.
Featured writers include José Amador, Eric Lane Barnes, Lenore Bensinger, Kelleen Blanchard, Emily Conbere, Nik Doner, Ben McFadden, Wayne Rawley, and Matt Smith. Please note: This show is not suitable for all audiences. Audience members must be 16 years or older.
Spring Awakening
After a sold-out run in January, Balagan Theatre brings back the Pacific Northwest premiere of the Tony Award-winning rock musical, Spring Awakening, directed by rising musical star Eric Ankrim, with music direction by Kimberly Dare and music supervision by RJ Tancioco. Spring Awakening features Tori Gresham and Bryan Gula in the lead roles of Wendla and Melchior.
Spring Awakening is an 8-time Tony Award-winning show featuring music by Grammy Award-winning artist Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. Set in late 1890s Germany, this coming-of-age rock musical follows a group of teenagers as they discover and explore their minds, bodies, and passions in the journey through adolescence to adulthood… sometimes to catastrophic effect.
