Lakewood Playhouse to Present AVENUE Q, 6/3-7/3

The Lakewood Playhouse is proud to present the FINAL SHOW of our 77th SEASON: The South Sound debut of the Tony Award-Winning Musical celebrating its First Decade on Broadway - AVENUE "Q"! with Music & Lyrics by Robert Lopez & Jeff Marx and a Book by Jeff Whitty Michael Frayn! This production will also mark the conclusion of our year-long celebration of the 50th ANNIVERSARY of the very building we do all of our Productions in - THE LAKEWOOD PLAYHOUSE THEATRE! From TAMING of the SHREW in its first year to AVENUE Q at the end of this season, we will have presented over 300 Productions at this venue that was first built for us in 1965 by the Lakewood Arts Foundation.

The Play will be performed on Fridays, Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Performances will be June 3rd through July 3rd with Special Showings at 8:00pm on Thursday, June 9th ("Pay What You Will" Night) and 8:00pm on Thursday, June 16th ("Pay What You Will" Actor's Benefit). Our Ticket Prices are $29.00 (General Admission), $27.00 (Military), $26.00 (Seniors) and $24.00 (Students/Educators).

This production is presented in the Lakewood Playhouse's "Thrust" configuration with seating on three sides of the stage. "AVENUE 'Q' - The Musical" is directed by VICKI WEBB who directed the stunning production of "12 ANGRY MEN" for our 75th Anniversary Year. It will also feature the Lakewood Playhouse debut of musical director JOSH ZIMMERMAN.

The Production Features a large cast filled with a number of returning actors from previous shows and some brand new performers to our stage! Featuring: DEREK HALL (Nicky & Trekkie), KYLE SINCLAIR (Princeton & Rod) and, introducing: CONNER BROWN (Brian), TAYLOR DAVIS (Kate & Lucy), JASMIN LAZAROO (Christmas Eve), TONY WILLIAMS (Gary Coleman) and KAYLA CRAWFORD (Mrs. Thistletwat & Bad Idea Bear).

ABOUT THE SHOW: ? Winner of the TONY "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, "Avenue Q" is part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart. The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, "Avenue Q" is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children's show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good and life lessons are learned.
