LIVE @ BENAROYA HALL Presents 4 Emerging Artists This Fall

This Fall Live @ Benaroya Hall demonstrates its commitment to supporting emerging artists with a series of four artists on the rise: Royal, Springs, Beving and Micarelli. The Live @ Benaroya Hall season continues through December and into 2019 with four added concerts: Brickman, The Tenors, The English Beat and Bowie. Tickets to those shows recently went on sale and good seats are available for all concerts in the lineup. More shows for the Spring of 2019 will be announced in late January. Tickets for the concerts listed above are on sale now, prices vary.

Emerging Artist: Gabriel Royal

Gabriel Royal descended into the New York City subway with a dollar in his pocket and a cello under his arm. To earn some extra pocket change he picked up busking and captivated commuters on the L and G trains. One of those commuters was an artist manager, and in a New York minute Gabriel went from serenading in subterranean tunnels to releasing a debut album and music video directed by Blake Farber (best known for his work with Beyoncé). This Oklahoma-born, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and cellist plays 'grown up lullabies'. He is influenced by Stevie Wonder's groove and Burt Bacharach's jazzy yet poppy sensitivities. Gabriel has developed a trademark song-over-cello sound that is perhaps best described as modern chamber pop.

Emerging Artist: Kandace Springs

Kandace grew up a soul singer in a country-western town. Her dad Scat Springs sang backup for everyone from, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer and Aretha Franklin to Brian McKnight and Michael McDonald. Her father instilled in Kandace a love of the greats: Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Eva Cassidy, and Luther Vandross. He helped her record a demo at 15 and now, well before the age of 30, her two albums Soul Eye and Indigo have earned her raves. Within a very short window, she has logged dozens of festival and TV performances including the Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. With a lithe, smoky voice and an intensely expressive mastery over the piano she offers a mix of everything: blues followed by a classical piece, a jazz standard after a Beatles cover. Her artistry swirls classical composition with quiet-storm cool, jazz poise and soulful depth.

Emerging Artist: Joep Beving

After the release of his debut album Solipsism, Joep Beving quickly developed an international following as a classical musician. The 2017 release of Prehension, 85 million downloads on Spotify, and global touring has solidified his place as one of the world's most popular living pianists. This unassuming Dutch composer's understated, haunting and melancholic playing leaves audiences spellbound and his delicate melodies give goosebumps. "The world is a hectic place right now," says Joep. "I feel a deep urge to reconnect on a basic human level with people in general ...." Beving's contemplative neo-classical compositions sooth the soul and serve as the antidote to a world of uncertainty and fear.

Emerging Artist: Lucia Micarelli

Lucia Micarelli is an American violinist and actress. She has been a featured soloist in two of Josh Groban's world tours, toured extensively with Chris Botti and was featured in his "Live From Boston" PBS special (from which the duet they performed together, "Emmanuel", has received over 5 million YouTube views), and was featured in Barbra Streisand's 2013 international tour. Apart from the music world, Lucia is perhaps best known for her role as Annie Talarico on the acclaimed HBO series Treme.

Bruce Campbell's Last Fan Standing

John McLaughlin & Matt Wertz: The WIN/WIN Tour

Everything in Jon McLaughlin's life makes its way into his music, whether he's conscious of it or not. Raised in Indiana and based in Nashville, Jon brings all of his experiences and beliefs into each heartfelt, hook-laden song he writes. He has played shows with Billy Joel, Kelly Clarkson and Adele, collaborated with longtime friend Sara Bareilles, co-written with Demi Lovato and even performed at the 2008 Academy Awards. Jon's latest creative project is his Dueling Pianos video series.A self-made singer/songwriter, Matt Wertz has spent years creating soulful, feel-good pop music on his own terms and - in between recording albums - touring the country with songwriters like Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Parachute and Gavin DeGraw. More than a decade into a career filled with commercial success and touring milestones, Matt Wertz remains proud to be an independent singer-songwriter. The English Beat

The English Beat is a band with an energetic mix of musical styles and a sound like no other. The band's unique sound has allowed it to endure for nearly three decades and appeal to fans, young and old, all over the world. When The English Beat (known simply as The Beat in their native England) rushed on to the music scene in 1979, it was a time of massive social and political unrest and economic and musical upheaval. This set the stage for a period of unbridled musical creativity, and thanks in large part to the Punk movement and it's DIY approach to making music, artists like The Beat were able to speak out and speak their mind on the news of the day, as in "Stand Down Margaret", things that mattered to them and the youth culture, as in "Get A Job", and universal matters of the heart and soul, as in their classic hits "I Confess" and "Save It For Later". Consummate showman that he is, Dave Wakeling has continued to keep The Beat alive and strong. Dave continues to tour the world as The English Beat with an amazing all-star ska backing band playing all the hits of The Beat, General Public, and songs from his new album Here We Go Love. SEATTLE SYMPHONY
