Leavenworth, Washington, the quaint Bavarian theme-town surrounded by the picturesque Cascades and known for its German delicatessens, brews and brats....and now as an Arts mecca? Certainly!
While Leavenworth has been home to various local artists and arts organizations, Icicle Creek is in the middle of an exciting transformation, broadening its extraordinary classical music organization into a vibrant home for a wider array of artistic excellence that blends performance, education and advancement of the classical and lively arts in a gorgeous, rural location.
Formerly called Icicle Creek Music Center, the Icicle Creek Center for the Arts will represent the next generation of the Lively Arts featuring offerings in categories such as: Education Series, Performance Series, Festivals, Residencies and Open Campus - catering to endless groups and organizations looking for a place to retreat.
"Icicle Creek Center for the Arts has great economic value that can be harnessed to increase regional economic growth. Leavenworth and our visitors will continue to benefit from the positive connections and experiences with artists and the arts in this worthwhile investment for the community" offers Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce Director,
Nancy Smith on behalf of the Chamber.
The new Icicle Creek Center for the Arts (ICCA) promises to be "A Destination for Extraordinary Performances and Inspired Learning Experiences" not just for avid arts lovers - but for its locals and surrounding communities.
"We're 'raising the roof' for the lively arts with a year-round menu for every taste - complete sensory satisfaction!" says
Lisa Bergman, General Director of Icicle Creek.
ICCA will partner with the architectural firm Studio Meng Strazzara of Seattle, WA, as plans to add a new theater to its campus have already taken flight. Studio Meng Strazzara partner, Charles Strazzara comments, "The new theater is designed to pay homage to the original architecture of the campus, while its barn-like aesthetic draws from many structures found throughout the valley."
The new building and new center is symbolic of the vision for the convergence of excellent location and artistic excellence. ICCA will remain committed to its signature programs including the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony, Icicle Creek Chamber Music Institute and Festival, Piano Festival, Summer Symphony and proud support of its resident ensemble, the Icicle Creek Piano Trio.
Fans and supporters can count on continued excellent, musical and innovative performances. And now, while planning a destination vacation to Leavenworth, visitors will surely add "Icicle Creek" to the list - next to brews and brats of course, but not necessarily in that order.
