Presented by World Writers Alliance-Seattle in partnership with Youth Theatre Northwest, I'M/MIGRATION is a performance festival featuring local artists of various genres. Through native storytelling, drama, poetry and hip-hop, the artists showcased in I'M/MIGRATION explore issues of movement in geographical, political, racial and socio-economic contexts through the lens of the youth experience. Share in their quest for identity, belonging, unity and home.
I'M/MIGRATION highlights the work of some of the brightest and bravest artists in our region. The 10 - 15 minute acts which make up I'M/MIGRATION include pieces by Nilki Benitez, playwright & poet; Roger Fernandes, native storyteller; Chad Goller, playwright & performer; Yussef El Guindi, playwright; Warrior Muzik, hip hop & performance-based storytelling; Natasha Marin, poet; as well as a cast of local actors.
Friday October 4, during a special day-time, field-trip show, more than 200 youth from area schools will attend the program and participate in a talk-back opportunity to share their own experiences.
I'M/MIGRATION is best for ages 11+ due to subject material and language.
I'M/MIGRATION performs tonight, October 4 - 6, 2013; Friday & Saturday evening at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.
