For the past decade, The Cabiri, a Seattle-based cirque-inspired performance troupe, has explored the dark world between the living and the dead with its annual Ghost Game series.

In BEYOND THE VEIL, their 11th annual Ghost Game performance, the talented troupe presents an entertaining evening of ghastly ghost tales drawn from traditional folklore and mythology - just in time for Halloween.

Narrated by multi-disciplinary performer, choreographer and educator Lindsay Pierce, the show will feature puppetry and dance choreography by The Cabiri's new guest choreographer Thomas Phelan. BEYOND THE VEIL will incorporate immersive elements - with opportunities for hands-on audience participation.

The new production draws inspiration from Japanese, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Germanic folklore and mythology, including "the Egyptian Book of the Dead" and "The Harps That Once... Sumerian Poetry in Translation" by Thorkild Jacobsen.

Directed by Cabiri Artistic Director John Murphy, BEYOND THE VEIL features an original score by Celadon and features vocalist and sound artist Susan duMett a.k.a. vox vespertinus.

Their otherworldly, experimental soundscapes - including found sounds, lush instrumentation, and haunting vocals - eerily enhance these tales of the beyond.

"The Ghost Game is a humble attempt to pass the wisdom and guidance of this essential part of the human experience as we escort people...beyond the veil," said Murphy.

To make the evening even more special, Alchemy in West Seattle will create themed craft cocktails and Confectional in the Pike Place Market will bake a devilishly delicious dessert.

GHOST GAME XI: BEYOND THE VEIL is appropriate for audience members 16 years and older. Festive attire is encouraged.

The Cabiri is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization founded in 1999 that preserves the mythologies of extinct and endangered cultures through theatrical performance, lectures, and publications. Their acrobats, dancers, stilt walkers, aerialists, and puppets have been seen on stages throughout North America.

Their presentations range from self-produced, full length theatrical productions to appearances at festivals, fundraisers, weddings, and other celebrations. Join them as they dive into the dusty tomes of the past.
