Marcus Gorman, playwright, and co-directors Tootsie Spangles and Quiqui Dominguez takes us to a warm and cozy animal bar deep in the Cascade Mountains, locally imported for Annex Theatre's final 30th season off-night show, Deers.
Annex Theatre regulars Marcus Gorman, Tootsie Spangles, and Quiqui Dominguez bring together the perfect doses of hilarity and camaraderie to highlight the importance of community and chosen family. At Deer's, a bar co-owned by Deer (played by Jasmine Joshua) and Binty (played by Mi Y. Kang), every bunny knows your name. The ensemble of Annex regulars and new-comers features local sketch comedians, improvisers, and burlesque performers who take us through 4 episodes of a nostalgic television show reminiscent of classic 90s sitcoms.Antic animals drink away their troubles with friends and foes at a mountain tavern in the Cascades, where every bunny knows your name. Share a pint as these creatures encounter love, laughs, and their own primal natures. Beginning with the pilot and ending with a very special series finale, Deers follows critters of all shapes and sizes over four episodes of this strange and unusual live sitcom.
Deers performs October 2 through November 8, Tuesdays & Wednesdays. PWYC Industry night is Monday, November 6. $10-$15 Sliding Scale Tickets. All performances are at 7:30 pm at Annex Theatre at the corner of 11th & Pike in Capitol Hill.
