Unexpected Productions started out 35 years ago in a Chinese restaurant in Pioneer Square, and evolved into a leader in improv in Seattle, the greater Pacific Northwest and the world. UP Improv created what is now known as the "Seattle style" of improv now taught around the world. The Seattle Times called UP Improv "The most polished improv troupe in the city," and "clearly Seattle's most popular improv company."
"Growing UP: A Funny Improv Fundraiser," demonstrates the talent that created that reputation. UP's regular ensemble members will be joined by a few surprise guests. There are only 200 seats for this magical night.
There is a buzz of excitement in the air when you walk past the Gum Wall to this special 21+ event. People are lined up to enjoy special hor'dourves created by The Alibi Room and drinks by Il Bistro and Pike Brewing Company. At the bar they are serving special improv drinks created for the evening. Everyone is here to laugh and celebrate Seattle's original improv company. As you enter the theater, you feel the beat from the music. BAM! Get ready for a Gala event that has never been experienced before and will never happen again. UP's improvisers and guests create spontaneous scenes on the fly that are so hilarious, quick-witted and perfectly constructed, it's hard to believe they are made up on the spot. Using your suggestions to fuel the funny fire, these death-defying acts of improvised hilarity will have you rolling in the aisle.
