Forward Flux Presents GREEN WHALES as Part of Salon Series Tonight

Forward Flux Productions will present the North West Regional premiere reading of Lia Romeo's dangerously dark comedy Green Whales at the next Flux Salon gathering in Seattle. In addition to the reading, visual art will be on display from Seattle artist Sydney M. Pertl and there will be a musical performance by beat-box artist Zeke Keeble. The Flux Salon presents new works by fresh voices in intimate spaces throughout the city, and this marks the first in a series of three Salons featuring plays by female playwrights. The Salon is tonight, October 7th at 7:00pm, by invitation only (email salon@forwardflux.com for invite).

About Green Whales: Karen is a 38 year old philosophy professor with a rare chromosomal disorder that makes her look like she's in her early teens. As a result, she has trouble meeting men - until her alcoholic sister Joanna decides to set her up on a date with the local pedophile. The real problem is, she likes him. In this dark comedy, two sisters search for love and decide just how much they're willing to settle for.

The reading will be presented by Dan Connor, Molli Corcoran, Brian Lange, and Leslie Wisdom.

The Flux Salon is an arts gathering featuring new play readings, performances, and conversation in intimate spaces throughout Seattle. Past venues have included private living rooms, houseboats, and basements. The series started in January, 2014, and is produced by Forward Flux Productions.

Lia Romeo's plays have been produced or developed at the Kennedy Center, 59E59, Project Y Theatre Company, Abingdon Theatre, the Lark Theatre, New Jersey Repertory Theatre, Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, Unicorn Theatre, HotCity Theatre, Kitchen Dog Theatre, Performance Network Theatre, Stillwater Theatre, Renegade Theatre Experiment, and elsewhere, and have been included in Smith and Kraus' "Best Women's Stage Monologues and Scenes." She is also the author of the novel, "Dating the Devil," and a humor book, "11,002 Things to Be Miserable About." She resides in Hoboken, NJ.
