Tickets are now available for Forward Flux's productions of THE WEDDING GIFT by Chisa Hutchinson (West Coast premiere), and THE SUMMER HOUSE by Sarah Bernstein (World premiere), playing September 20th - October 8th at Gay City Arts (517 E Pike St, Seattle, WA 98122). For the second year in a row, Forward Flux will present two new plays in the same theatre, allowing audiences to choose one, or see both in one night with show times at 7pm and 9pm. Each play runs around 75mins with no intermission (as it should be).

THE WEDDING GIFT is a dark comedy set so far in the future it's stupid. It centers on an ordinary dude named Doug who suddenly finds himself at an other-worldly wedding... as a gift. Partial funding is provided by 4Culture. This will be the second production of the play ever, after having recently received its' world premiere at the American Contemporary Theater Festival. The Washington Post says THE WEDDING GIFT is "a sci-fi parable about slavery with a bright future on the national theater scene... Daring."

Chisa Hutchinson is currently the Tow Foundation Fellow resident playwright at Second Stage in NYC. Her play SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER was recently included on The Kilroy List, and will receive its' world premiere at Second Stage in Spring, 2017. She is the recipient of a GLAAD Award, the Humanitas New Voices Award and the Lanford Wilson Award.

THE SUMMER HOUSE is a darkly comic thriller about three teens who are haunted by the recent disappearance of a local girl as their summer of drugs and partying comes to an end. Summer is over. Forever. Forward Flux has been working closely with playwright Sarah Bernstein for over a year after first presenting this play at The Flux Salon in April of 2015. Earlier this year, Bernstein was in Seattle to workshop the play with the cast. In June, it was included on The Kilroy List as an Honorable Mention (a national list highlighting the best new plays written by women and trans writers).

Sarah Bernstein has a BA from Brown University, where she studied playwriting with Bonnie Metzgar and Paula Vogel. She was recently accepted to the MFA playwriting program at Hunter College where she will study with Annie Baker.

THE WEDDING GIFT by Chisa Hutchinson is directed by Wesley Frugé and Pilar O'Connell. It stars Nazlah Black, Andrew Shanks, Marquicia Dominguez, Tré Calhoun, Charhys Bailey, J Reese*, Haley Alaji, Varsha Raghavan and Lance Valdez. The creative team is Andy Buffelen (Stage Manager), Amontaine Aurore (Dramaturg), Demene Hall (Language Coach), Carolyn Hall (Costume Design), ZAnna Paulson (Lighting Design), Kyle Thompson (Sound Design), Rachel Delmar (Props Master / Set Dressing) and Eva Zertuche (Asst.
