Shake off the winter doldrums and cut loose!....Footloose! TMP's exciting 15th Anniversary Season continues with an exhilarating stage production of the 1980's pop film phenomenon. Heat up your spring with the electric choreography of Jon Douglas Rake and a cast of over 30 energetic singers, actors and dancers lead by South Sound favorites, Matt Posner and Elise Campello.

The musical, which opened on Broadway in 1998, was adapted for the stage from the explosive movie musical of 1984 by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford. The film's Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score has sold over 15 million copies.

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The production runs March 13 through April 5. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm, with additional Saturday matinees on March 28th and April 4th at 2 p.m. The production takes place at Tacoma Musical Playhouse located at 7116 Sixth Avenue. Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for students, seniors and military and $18 for children 12 and under. Student Rush tickets are $18 for opening weekend performances. For tickets or more information, please call 253-565-6867. Tickets available online at www.tmp.org. Suitable for all ages.
