EnJoy Productions has announce that tickets are on sale for their newest show, Venus and the Vixens: Games of Love. This world premiere production runs from May 30 – June 16, 2024 at Emerald City Trapeze Arts in Seattle.
The historic SODO venue was chosen specifically for its unconventional aerial performance space, and flexible layout; it perfectly accommodates all the exciting music, food, drink, games and theatrics that make Venus and the Vixens: Games of Love so different and fun.
This brand-new interactive rock musical is an immersive theatrical experience, and a joyous antidote to post-pandemic isolation and technology overload. Grab a drink and bite to eat at the bar, jump into the games and lose yourself in the electro pop sounds of a heart-pumping all-female disco-rock band. It's a fresh take on the mythic tale of Cupid and Psyche's epic love story, filled with games of chance, aerial flourishes, physical challenges, and playful surprises.
Venus and the Vixens: Games of Love is conceived, written and directed by Martha Enson with music by Sari Breznau.Enson explains, “I began work on this show during the pandemic, in part, because I was craving connection with others and I wanted it to be in a festive setting. I wanted a great show where people could interact. We all need a cure for burnout and fatigue.” She continues, “So I started work on a show that includes a variety of games where everybody will find something they enjoy. There's delicious food and awesome music from The Vixens and then, everything reaches a pinnacle when the actual story begins to unfold. The age old myths of Venus, Psyche and Cupid get turned on their ears, and everyone needs to come prepared to participate. Afterall, you can't win if you don't play!”
This production features Puget Sound-based performers Caela Bailey as Venus, Joel Domenico as Cupid, Shadae Simone as Psyche, and Kaleb Kerr as Dionysus / Game Lead. Band members include: Sari Breznau, Melissa Montalto, Marina Christopher, Teryn Kilgore, Baylee Harper, and Leah Thomas. It's conceived, written and directed by Martha Enson, music by Sari Breznau, libretto by Martha Enson, Sari Breznau and Caela Bailey. Farm-to-table chefs and butchers from Vashon Island's The Ruby Brink will have locally-focused food and beverages available for purchase on site.
