Cornish Playhouse Arts Incubator Residency Program Now Accepting Applications

Cornish College of the Arts and the Cornish Playhouse has announced the creation of the Arts Incubator Residency program -- a new residency program for artists interested in risk-taking, collaboration, and the creation of new work.

The Arts Incubator Residency program at Cornish Playhouse will give artists the opportunity to come together to create art that falls outside the boundaries of their primary genres, disciplines or comfort zones. The Arts Incubator Residencies will give artists the time and space to develop new work without the pressure of producing a final, polished product.

Nine groups of artists will be selected to participate in the Arts Incubator Residency program. Participating artists will receive free rental space at the Cornish Playhouse for exploring, rehearsing, and further developing their ideas. Residencies will take place between October 2014 and March 2015. Residencies will be of varying lengths, lasting from three days to one month, depending on the needs of the project. The Arts Incubator Residency program is part of Cornish Playhouse's commitment to creating opportunities for access and engagement with the Seattle community.

Apply Now for an Arts Incubator Residency - Applications Are Due June 4, 2014

The Residencies are open to anyone age 18 or older, including professional and non-professional artists, teachers, ensembles and groups, and students. Applicants do not need to be affiliated with Cornish College to apply. Each project must have a minimum of two people involved. The lead artist applying must be a Washington state resident.

Applications for the Arts Incubator Residency program are being accepted beginning Friday, April 11, 2014. Applications are due by no later than June 4, 2014. Applications and more detailed information can be found at http://www.cornish.edu/playhouse/arts_incubator/.
