Forward Flux Productions is thrilled to announce that Chisa Hutchinson will be the special guest playwright at The Flux Salon this summer. She will be workshopping her new play Kin with a local cast and the process will culminate in a one night only presentation on July 17th. The Salon event will start at 7pm with a rooftop reception with Chisa, and then move to a near-by private location for a reading of the play. Audiences will remember Hutchinson as the playwright of Forward Flux's The Wedding Gift, seen last season as part of the companys' double feature.

About Kin: "Things are looking up for JefF Browning - he is a new father and is finally being welcomed into the locAl White supremacist club, but before he can join, he has to take a DNA test and gets an inconvenient surprise."

The cast for the reading is: Kevin Bordi, Chelsea DuVall, Matt Gilworth, Lamar Legend, Shane Regan and Lillian Afful Stratton. It will be directed by Forward Flux Producing Artistic Director Wesley Frugé.

Chisa Hutchinson's play, Somebody's Daughter just played off-Broadway at Second Stage, and was recently included on the Kilroy List for 2017. Her other plays include Dirt Rich (Summer Stage), She Like Girls (the Lark Play Development Center, Working Man's Clothes Productions), This is Not the Play (Mad Dog Theater Company, Cleveland Public Theater), Sex on Sunday (the Lark Play Development Center, the BE Company), Tunde's Trumpet (Summer Stage, BOOM Arts), The Subject (Atlantic Theater Company, Playwrights' Foundation, Victory Gardens, Partial Comfort, and Rattlestick Theater), Mama's Gonna Buy You (Inge Center for the Arts), Alondra Was Here (the Wild Project), The Wedding Gift (Contemporary American Theater Festival, Forward Flux Productions), and Dead & Breathing (the Lark Play Development Center, Contemporary American Theater Festival, National Black Theater). Chisa has been a Lark Fellow, a Dramatists Guild Fellow, a Resident at the William Inge Center for the Arts, a staff writer for the Blue Man Group and an ensemble member of the New York Neo Futurists. She's won a GLAAD Award, a Lilly, a New York Innovative Theatre Award, the Paul Green Award, a Helen Merrill Award, and a Lanford Wilson Award. Currently, she is a Humanitas Fellow, and a proud member of New Dramatists.

This Salon will continue Forward Flux's work partnering with local and national playwrights to support and develop their plays, and expose Seattle audiences to daring new voices on the national stage. The Flux Salon is a series of readings that take place in different locations each time, often including live music and other performances. This will be the 19th Salon held in Seattle.

Tickets range from $5 - $30 with VIP / Sponsor options also available, and are on sale now at forwardflux.com.
