Centerstage Theatre is pleased to announce the fourth show of our 2017-18 season! We are participating in Seattle Celebrates Shakespeare with Return to the Forbidden Planet, a spectacular mix of The Bard, the 60's, and sci-fi!

The show opens Friday, March 16th, and plays through Saturday, March 31st. Shows will take place on the following dates and times: Friday, March 16th, at 8:00 pm, Saturday, March 17th at 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 18th at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 22nd at 8:00 pm, Friday, March 23rd at 8:00 pm, Saturday, March 24th at 2:00 and 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 25th at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 29th at 8:00 pm, Friday, March 30th at 8:00 pm, Saturday, March 31st at 2:00 and 8:00 pm, NO SHOW on Easter Sunday.

The cast is a high energy mix of Centerstage favorites and new faces. The leader of the crew, Captain Tempest, is played by JIMMI COOK, and his intrepid team consists of NICK HYETT-SCHNELL as the misfit cook, Christmas show favorite OLIVIA LEE as the mysterious Science Officer, JONATHAN FOWLES as the Bosun, "Person to Watch" Broadway World Award recipient MATT DELA CRUZ, and South Sound actor/choreographer Ashley Roy. They are pulled into the orbit of a strange new planet, where they meet the powerful and brilliant Prospero, played by Seattle actor MARK WALDSTEIN, his beautiful and naïve daughter Miranda, played by stage favorite HELEN ROUNDHILL, and Prospero's robot, Ariel, played by Centerstage's own Fune Tautala.

We are also thrilled to announce that we have launched our first High School Performance Internship program, and that we are pleased to welcome to the cast Federal Way residents and high school students, JASMYNE MENDOZA, ALEECIA MEJIA, and KELLY NGUYEN!

ABOUT THE SHOW: Based on Shakespeare's The Tempest and incorporating passages from the entire Shakespearean canon, Return to the Forbidden Planet fuses Will's work with a sci-fi setting and a 1960's playlist. Winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, this amazing celebration of The Bard will bring joy to the Shakespearean scholar, the newly initiated, and everyone in between! Musical numbers include "Born to Be Wild," "The Shoop Shoop Song," "Good Vibrations," "It's A Man's World," and more. A blend of live theatre, video, moving sets, and animation will bring the intergalactic world to life as you join our crew on their mission!
