Chamber music has been re-imagined at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Now under the auspices of Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, the new series will feature a chamber orchestra lead by Maestro Wesley Schulz as well as string quartets, trios and more. Programs will contain outstanding chamber repertory that you won't get to hear at regular BSO concerts.

The highlight of the November 3rd program is music from Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring. This masterwork was made famous by Martha Graham's ballet company in 1944 and contains the beautiful folk song, "Simple Gifts." Wesley Schulz will conduct a chamber orchestra in a 20-minute suite using the original ballet orchestration for 13 instruments. Also on the program are students from the Seattle Conservatory of Music who will perform Barber'sString Quartet, op. 11. The program also includes John Williams' Air and Simple Gifts, which he composed for the 2009 inauguration ceremony of President Barack Obama. And members of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Brass section will perform a variety of hymns and American folk songs to round out this program of great American composers and music.

Wesley Schulz moderates the series, which showcases talented artists of all ages in an accessible and inviting format. In addition to Maestro Schulz, musicians hail from Bainbridge Island as well as throughout the Puget Sound. The series continues on April 6.
