BPA Theatre School teens conclude a rigorous two-day playwriting process, with performances of their original works on BPA's stage.

At the encore presentation on August 26, judges will award prizes for Best Script, Best Performance, Best Use of Assigned Genre, Best Use of Assigned Prop, Best Use of Assigned Dialogue, and Best Production, plus performers will vie for an Audience Choice Award.

On August 20, teen students delved into playmaking in a one-day workshop with instructors from the Dacha Theatre Company. On August 23, teams of teen playwrights, actors, directors, and costumers were given the parameters in which to create a play. Don't miss the rousing plot lines, dramatic twists, flambouyant costumes, vivid lighting, and stirring scenes spurred by this creative burst of teen energy and talent. BPA Education Director Liz Ellis says, "Devising is a fascinating, challenging process that forces participants to work as a team, sharing in the creative process, and learning from each other. We're always excited to offer this experience to teens before they head out into the world in hopes that they will be clearer, more generous thinkers as a result. Plus, it's going to be a blast!"

BPA's Teen Playmaking Competition appears Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for Seniors, Youth, Students, Military, and Teachers, may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206.842.8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island.
