Bainbridge Performing Arts' 2016 - 2017 60th Anniversary Season opens September 3 with an audience favorite - The Edge Improv. For more than two laughter-filled decades at Bainbridge Performing Arts, the troupe's riotous antics have inspired rave reviews from people from all walks of life. Sell-out BPA crowds greet The Edge on the first Saturday of each month, and the troupe's capers have earned a devoted community of followers that energizes the house during each show.

Member Ken Ballenger says the troupe's name came out of a discussion about improvisational performing: "I started to 'get it' after a horrible scene where we stood on The Edge of a volcano and talked about jumping. I later realized that a scene doesn't really start until you jump. The fun, the craziness, the oddities all happen during freefall. To me, good improv is fun in freefall."

Joining Ken are troupe members Frank Buxton, John Ellis, Cynthia Lair, Susan MacPherson, Bhama Roget, Andrew Shields, Chris Soldevilla, Nathan Whitehouse, and Matty Whitman. Visit The Edge online at www.theedgeimprov.com and www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org for tickets, bios, upcoming performances, video clips, and more.

The Edge Improv appears at BPA on Saturday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $16 for adults, and $12 for seniors, students, youth, military, and teachers, may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206.842.8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island.

BPA is supported, in part, by the Bainbridge Community Foundation and One Call for All. Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to offer an "Open Doors" program. Free and reduced-cost tickets to most events are available to community members in need through our partner Helpline House thanks to grants from BCF, the Mabee Family Foundation, and the Alder Fund at the Bainbridge Community Foundation.
