BPA Theatre School Hosts Spring Play Festival, Now thru 6/7

BPA Theatre School's annual Spring Play Festival is coming today, June 4 - 7! This year's festival includes The Macbeth Project on June 4 & 5; Group Voice I & Beginning Broadway today, June 4; and Jason and the Argonauts & Odin's Undoing: The Norse Edda on June 6 & 7.

"Something wicked this way comes!" This new adaptation of the classic Shakespeare drama opens with the Three Witches, and takes us through the misty moors of Scotland as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth enact a plan to overthrow the rightful king. "Till Birnam woods remove to Dunsinane," Lady Macbeth and Macbeth struggle to retain power and struggle against the prophecy of the Witches. Directed by Tom Challinor (15 Minute Hamlet, Sum Might Dream, The Tempest), The Macbeth Project is sure to entertain! Performances are June 4 & 5 - Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, students, youth, military, and teachers.

Michelle Abad directs Group Voice I and Emily Kight leads Beginning Broadway as BPA Theatre School students present songs and poems backed by a live band. With songs ranging from showtunes to modern pop, these performers will present a fun-filled evening of entertainment for the whole family! The one-night-only performance is Wednesday June 4 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, students, youth, military, and teachers.

Emily Kight directs Jason and the Argonauts on June 6 & 7. When the hero Jason is usurped from his rightful place in the kingdom, he gathers the greatest heroes of the land and sets sail on an epic voyage to find the Golden Fleece. In this new adaptation of The Argonautica of Rhodius by local playwright and 2014 Amy Award winner Liz Ellis, we follow the journey of the mighty Argo through the trials and tribulations of Ancient Greece on his path to the Golden Fleece. This action-packed adventure appears at BPA Friday, June 6 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m.

In Odin's Undoing: The Norse Edda, Odin, the king of Asgard, has let his pride get the better of him and all of the Nine Worlds have been sent into chaos. Thor and his mighty hammer are no match for the Midgard Serpent, Loki has raised an army of Frost Giants, and soon all will meet for the battle of Ragnarok. Josh Anderson's new adaptation of The Poetic and Prose Eddas includes memorable heroes and epic storytelling. Cheer on the Scandinavian heroes and giants as they battle for the fate of the world in this classic tale directed by Josh Anderson (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Shrek, The Musical, Avenue Q). Odin's Undoing: The Norse Edda appears at BPA Friday, June 6 at 6:50 p.m. and Saturday, June 7 at 1:50 p.m.Tickets for Jason and the Argonauts and Odin's Undoing: The Norse Edda are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, students, youth, military, and teachers.

BBPA Box Office hours are 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and one hour prior to each performance.
