Following the success of their critically acclaimed production ofJesus Hopped the A Train (2012 Gregory Award and Gypsy Lee Rose Award winners), Seattle theatre company Azeotrope is excited to bring two powerful shows in repertory: Red Light Winter by Adam Rapp and 25 Saints by Joshua Rollins, directed by Artistic Associate Desdemona Chiang. Both shows open today, October 26, and play through November 24; produced in association with Central Heating Lab at A Contemporary Theatre.

In Red Light Winter, former college buddies Matt (Richard Nguyen Sloniker) and Davis (Tim Gouran) take off to the Netherlands and find themselves entangled in a bizarre love triangle with a beautiful, young prostitute named Christina (Mariel Neto). The romance they find in Europe unravels their friendship back home, and all three are forced to confront unexpected consequences resulting from their one night together. Written with a harsh, poetic beauty, Red Light Winter is a stunning story of obsession, isolation, and the desperate need for people to fulfill their hunger for intimacy.

25 Saints is the story of Charlie (Tim Gouran) and Tuck (Richard Nguyen Sloniker), a pair of Appalachian meth peddlers in rural West Virginia, hunted by corrupt local law enforcement for shooting and killing the deputy. The play focuses on a group forgotten people who, when not plastered on CNN when a coal mine collapses, are left to fend for themselves. It is a grim look into a world of poverty that makes folks resort to crime and violence that many of us can choose to ignore. These are desperate souls who have no options and have run out of time.

"Red Light Winter and 25 Saints are very potent as companion pieces," says director Desdemona Chiang. "They focus on opposite aspects of isolationism and the people who are willfully or carelessly neglected by society. And performing in a repertory system is a fantastic opportunity for this stellar company of actors to flex their talent."

Red Light Winter feature performances by Richard Nguyen Sloniker, Tim Gouran, and Mariel Neto. Sloniker, Gouran, and Neto also appear in 25 Saints, with Libby Barnard, Mary Bayley, and James Lapan. The creative team includes scenic design by Catherine Cornell, lighting design by Andrew D. Smith, costume design by Christine Tschirgi, and sound design by Evan Mosher.

Red Light Winter contains full frontal male and female nudity and adult themes. It is recommended for ages 18 and over. 25 Saints is recommended for ages 14 and over.
