ArtsWest is pleased to announce MOTHERS AND SONS, the Tony Award-nominated play about a mother's reckoning with the life and legacy of her late son, opening at the ArtWest Playhouse and Gallery on January 19. Performances will runThursday through Sunday until February 11.
The ArtsWest production of MOTHERS AND SONS stars local legend Suzy Hunt, a veteran actress with credits ranging from Broadway to the 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT and beyond, in the role of the bereaved mother Katharine Gerard. When Katharine pays an unexpected visit to her late son's former partner, Cal (played by Evan Whitfield), their conversation forces them to confront both the past and the present - and later, when Cal's husband and young son arrive, Katharine discovers she must also consider the future. Intimate and big-hearted, MOTHERS AND SONS is a mesmerizing story of love, grief and family.
MOTHERS AND SONS is directed by ArtsWest Producing Associate Makaela Pollock, whose work has appeared at the Seattle Shakespeare Company, the 5th Avenue Theatre, Intiman Theatre and many more, including the 2016 ArtsWest production of REALLY REALLY. Rounding out the Creative Team for MOTHERS AND SONS are additional longtime ArtsWest collaborators, including Scenic Designer Christopher Mumaw (DEATH OF A SALESMAN, VIOLET, and LITTLE WOMEN: THE MUSICAL) Lighting Designer Ryan Dunn (MY MAÑANA COMES and ANGRY HOUSEWIVES), and Costume Designer Pete Rush (4000 MILES).
