Annex Theatre's production of Penguins, Episode II: Roll Away the Rock, the second installment of the "Penguins" franchise from prominent Seattle playwright Scot Augustson (Sgt. Rigsby & His Amazing Silhouettes, Plants and Animals) will play its final performance on February 19, 2010.
Ecclesiastical fashion extravaganzas, territorial squabbles, and forbidden love turn up the heat in Penguins, Episode II: Roll the Rock Away. Father Jones thought he'd solved his problems when he called a hit on rebellious Sister Bernadette-but the closer he looks, the more it looks like something's rotten in the diocese!
Penguins, Episode I: Heaven the Hard Way garnered praise for both its initial run and its holiday remount. The Stranger praised its "goofy comedy with a pitch black heart...a uniformly excellent cast...sharp, fast, and funny." The Sunbreak called it "ultra-lowbrow, extreme Catholic camp...an intoxicating fount of profanity and corruption." Seattle Weekly described it as "Doubt on Ecstasy, smack, and aerosol cheese...I wished "Episode II" had begun immediately after". "Episode I" played to sold-out houses, so get your tickets early!
