Critically acclaimed by the Minneapolis arts board, The Believers examines the manufacturing of reality: Do we know why we do what we do? Are we able to think our own thoughts, or are we just parroting the pre-digested ideas of our culture? Mixing the metaphysical slapstick of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead and the unsettled atmospheres of Kafka, The Believers depicts a town where the Historical Society manipulates the population by manipulating the stories they live by. The cameras are always rolling, the lights are always on, and the hero could
be you.
Bovino is working with heady and philosophically charged material here, and he deftly steers the ship around from metaphysics and allegory to social commentary. - Minneapolis City Pages, September 2006
Jim Bovino is the former artistic director of Flaneur Productions in Minneaopolis, MN, where he wrote and directed a number of critically acclaimed productions, including The Strong and Capable Shoulders of the Student When He Dreams and Baudelaire Lies.
