AN EVENING WITH SATAN Comes to Seattle

An Evening With Satan will play in Seattle November 16-19 Artistic team and husband and wife David Quicksall and Rachel Glass, who have worked independently, as well as together in the Seattle theatre community since 1998, are producing a play they have co-written, a one-man show called An Evening with Satan which will star Quicksall and is directed by Glass. It will play for a very limited run at 18th & Union, November 16-19, with the possibility of an extension.

Although this is the first full-length play that Quicksall and Glass have written and produced together, they are no strangers to collaborating together on theatrical productions: Just before moving to Seattle, they lived in Nashville, where they produced, directed and performed in an award-winning production of Dylan Thomas' Under Milkwood, which received popular and critical acclaim, enjoyed sold-out performances, and even won them a grant, which allowed them to go on a statewide tour with the show. Locally, they have teamed up on at least a dozen productions at several of Seattle's theatres. Glass has also directed staged readings and podcasts of several of Quicksall's other plays.

The concept of An Evening With Satan was born out of Quicksall's undying fascination with monsters, Dracula, the macabre, and the Devil. Quicksall had originally envisioned the piece as a Spalding Gray-like monologue with music (musician, songwriter, and sound designer Nathan Wade will play live music onstage as part of the show). As the idea grew and developed, Glass created characters, which would all be played by Quicksall, to further flesh out the journey to find Satan. The result (without giving too much away) is a theatrical, multi-media, high-energy romp through history and the present, to explore the complexities and the inscrutable mystery of what we think we know about the Devil!
