ACT opens its doors to the public for an exciting afternoon in celebration of its 50-year legacy, and 90 years of its historic landmark home in downtown Seattle. Families and members of the community are invited to a rare opportunity to peek behind the scenes with a preview of the 2016 season, artistic workshops, open rehearsals, and exclusive guided tours of five unique theatres. In addition to a behind-the-scenes glimpse, attendees will be treated to a prop-making class with ACT's scenic department and the chance to read a scene with an ACT staff member. To close the celebration, attendees will be treated to cake and a champagne toast to the next 50 years of ACT.
"We are thrilled to welcome old friends and new friends to ACT," said future Artistic Director John Langs. "Everyone is welcome to explore our theatres and preview what exciting shows we have in store in 2016. Not only am I excited to showcase our upcoming season, but to unveil the restorative work performed on our building's exterior. I'm proud to be a part of this community, and to meet the people who have supported us for 50 incredible years here in Seattle."
Doors open to the general public at 1 p.m. Attendees will receive special ticket offers for upcoming performances, including Anne Washburn's Mr. Burns, attend a literary workshop on selecting scripts, watch Azeotrope rehearse their next ACTLab production Sound, attend a piano sing-a-long in the lobby, and learn about the Eagles Auditorium from the Downtown Historic Theatre District. Additional activities include building-wide tours, a photo booth, coloring contest, ACT trivia, and an opportunity to meet future Artistic Director John Langs.
