A Contemporary Theatre concludes 2010 with the continuing run of Martin McDonagh's outrageous farce The Lieutenant of Inishmore, and welcomes the 35th Anniversary of ACT's holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol. Alongside Mainstage thrills, the Central Heating Lab at ACT is cooking up some mighty fine entertainment, featuring music and film from Jose Bold, short films from RAWSTOCK, as well as the return of Short Stories Live at Town Hall and the conclusions of the 2010 SOIL at ACT window displays and InterACTions 2010: Mindscapes. And it wouldn't be the holiday season without a special shopping opportunity: StageCraft will host an end of year Holiday Gift Bazaar, featuring one-of-a-kind art, jewelry and pottery from local theatre artists. It's all here at ACT!

A gleefully gruesome comedy from the Oscar-nominated author of In Bruges, about a merciless Irish terrorist and his obsessive love for the thing that matters most to him: his precious black cat, Wee Thomas. Turn off your political correctness meter and wallow in this outrageous, blood-drenched farce. You won't believe your eyes!

continues to be Seattle's destination for cutting-edge animation, politically incorrect comedy, and
relentless grindhouse cinema. This November, RAWSTOCK debuts the fourth chapter of its Everyday is a Journey "synergistic cinema" project, where one story is told by six writers/directors via six
individual "chapter" films. See the final two chapters and a full screening of Everyday is a Journey in a secret December date to be announced!

A Central Heating Lab Event
November 21
Tickets: start at $15, free for students/people under 25, or included for ACTPass Monthly Members
Philosopher Paul Loeb concludes the 2010 InterACTions series with a fascinating look at how rapid advances in science and technology are contributing to the alteration, enhancement, and evolution of the human into the posthuman. Should parents design their children? Is human cloning immoral? Is radical life extension desirable? Should humans take control of their own evolution? Should humans aim to transcend their bodies through Artificial Intelligence and virtual reality?

November 26 - December 26
Tickets: start at $27.00 (adults) $22 (children age 5 to 12 & seniors 65 and over)
Gather your loved ones and join us for ACT's own holiday tradition; a ripping-good telling of the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly businessman who requires the intervention of a few ghosts to understand the true meaning of Christmas. More than 150 years after its writing, Dickens' classic tale of hope and redemption continues to remind us what's really worth celebrating-at the holidays, or any time. Featuring Sean G. Griffin and Mark Chamberlin as Scrooge!

SOIL at ACT
A Central Heating Lab Event
December 2
Tickets: FREE!
ACT's First Thursday art collaboration with SOIL Artist-Run Gallery continues! Commissioned by ACT, SOIL has curated and installed two, four-month cycles of new art at ACT in the windows facing 7th Avenue, between Pike and Union, with the second cycle on display through December 31. The cycle of window displays is inspired by ACT's 2010 Mainstage season in what Artistic Director Kurt Beattie describes as "an evolution of consciousness, a journey through the '50s to now." Each window is viewable from the street, and inside of ACT one hour prior to each show. Theatre tours are also available on First Thursdays. RSVP to service@acttheatre.org the Sunday prior.
MOUNTAIN by Jose Bold

December 2 - 3
Tickets: start at $10 or included for ACTPass Monthly Members
Jose Bold - AKA John Osebold of art band "Awesome" - will present his film+music live show MOUNTAIN as a part of ACT's Central Heating Lab. Joined by frequent collaborator and "Awesome" band member Kirk Anderson, Jose Bold will play a song-score while an original film is shown, increasingly adding theatrical elements throughout the evening. The result is a surreal blend of film screening, live concert, and theatre piece about the mysterious and time-enduring nature of a personified mountain.
Short Stories Live at Town Hall: Holiday Classics
A Central Heating Lab Event
December 19
Tickets: Advance tickets, $13/$10 Town Hall Members, seniors & students; $15/$13 at the door or included for ACTPass Monthly Members; online at brownpapertickets.com
Think of it as NPR's Selected Shorts, Seattle style: ACT Artistic Director Kurt Beattie selects compelling short stories based on a common theme; then local actors bring the stories to life in readings at Town Hall. This month's program is directed by Jean Sherrard and features actors Frank Corrado, Julie Briskman, and Jean Sherrard, with special guests Paul Dorpat and steel guitar master John Owen for an afternoon of delightfully unconventional Christmas stories, poems, and musical cheer including both Grace Paley's lovely The Loudest Voice and her delirious The Seraph and the Zambesi, as well as Ron Carlson's hilarious and moving The H Street Sledding Record.
