Hamzeh Al Hussien and Amy Golding present the Scottish premiere of Penguin at the Tron Theatre, running for two performances on May 22 and May 24, 2025. This solo show, inspired by Al Hussien's experiences as a disabled artist and refugee from Syria, takes audiences on a journey from his home village to a refugee camp in Jordan, and eventually to Gateshead. Infused with music and fantasy, the autobiographical work explores themes of self-acceptance and hope, all while inviting the audience to share in the magic of his childhood memories. The performance is suitable for ages 12 and older and will be captioned in both Arabic and English.
