From May 10th-14th Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat comes to the King's Theatre. At The Citizens Theatre from May 12th-14th The Citizens Young Co. perform The Birds, a raunchy comedy full of saucy innuendo and song based on an ancient Greek comedy. Disillusioned with their humdrum existence in the city, a pair of wanderers seek a better way of life. With help from the self-appointed King Tereus - a man transformed into a Hoopoe Bird - an unlikely alliance between the humans and a great flock of fantastical birds creates a new city in the skies and holds the gods to ransom.
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland bring Return to the Forbidden Planet to SWG3 from the 10th to 13th of May. Crash-landed on the planet D'Illyria, Captain Tempest must enlist the help of marooned scientist Doctor Prospero, his daughter Miranda and their robot Ariel. But is everything as it seems? Where is the doctor's wife? Who will win the love of Miranda? What is the winning formula of the mysterious "x-factor"? And where did that huge tentacly monster come from?!
The Theatre Royal plays host to The Mikado until May 14th. Following their 2013 hit with The Pirates of Penzance, director Martin Lloyd-Evans and choreographer Steve Elias return with one of the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas. With a storyline packed with anti-Establishment silliness, and self-serving politicians that are all too recognisable today, this playful show is full of family fun, performed to the highest standards.
