This March, Tron Theatre is delighted to host The Red Chair, an intimate new show from Clod Ensemble with a dark, original fairy tale at its heart.

Written and performed by acclaimEd Scottish performer Sarah Cameron, and directed by Suzy Wilson, The Red Chair is a contemporary take on folk and fairytale storytelling traditions, based on Sarah's original book that had its first public reading as part of The House of Fairytales at the Port Eliot Festival. The Red Chair lies somewhere between a Grimm's Tale, an absurdist ghost story and a parent's guide on how not to bring up children.

Sarah Cameron's towering solo performance creates a surreal ballad populated with larger than life characters, telling the story of a man who could not stop eating, the wife doomed to cook his meals and their 'inveesible' daughter.

Told in a rich and saucy Scots dialect with physical verve, a wee dram of whisky to oil the way and a musical score that rolls in like mist over the hills, The Red Chair sees Sarah Cameron steer us through a landscape of twisted reason. Extreme compulsion, eye watering complacency and domestic drudgery happen on an operatic scale, and a father's dereliction of duty reaches epic proportions.

Sarah Cameron: "A Scottish tour is a thrilling prospect as it is an opportunity to bring the work back to its natural home... The text speaks of family and ancestry and in many ways is a romantic remembrance of Scotland, which is ingrained within my being and my heart."[Vile Arts Blog, 20th January 2017].

Tickets for The Red Chair are available on the Tron Theatre website.
