The acclaimed male vocal group The Flyboys will make their Edinburgh Fringe debut this year when they perform their fusion act of vintage and modern music in four part harmony nightly at the Gilded Balloon's Rose Theatre (Main Theatre) from August 1 to August 24 at 10.30pm. The Flyboys brand of swing re-imagined has been described as "if Sinatra formed a band with Bruno Mars" or "a night where Pharrell Williams croons with Judy Garland, Ricky Martin scats with Cab Calloway and Maroon 5 groove with Ella Fitzgerald."

The Flyboys cast member, creative director and founder, Christopher J. Orton is a West End musical theatre performer whose credits (as Kit Orton) include Spamalot (Playhouse Theatre, Harold Pinter Theatre & UK tour) and Dickens Abridged (Arts Theatre) as well as the title role of Sir Tom Jones in the UK tour of Tom and roles as diverse as Jackson in The Hired Man (Mercury Theatre, Colchester & The Leicester Curve), Bill Sykes in Oliver! (Watermill Theatre) and Pish-Tush in The Hot Mikado (Watermill Theatre & UK tour). He is also the composer and co-lyricist of the musical My Land's Shore (a finalist in the 2018 Off West End Awards for Best New Musical).

The three other Flyboys are also highly experienced vocal and musical theatre performers - Jeremy Unwin (a West End veteran of shows such as Once, Ghost, Sweet Charity, Evita and The Far Pavilions), David Luke (Dreamboats And Petticoats) and Tim Bonser (South Pacific UK tour, Mamma Mia International Tour, Spamalot West End & UK tour and the UK tour of Tom as the alternate Tom Jones), who is also The Flyboys choreographer.

In 2017 The Flyboys appeared on the BBC show Pitch Battle and earlier this year they performed with the Glenn Miller Orchestra during their 60th Anniversary tour of the USA as well as performing their own show around the west coast of the USA and in Las Vegas.

In October The Flyboys will be supporting Sir Cliff Richard on the UK leg of his tour entitled "Cliff Richard 58 - 18 = 60th Tour". (4th Oct 2018 - Newcastle City Hall; 5th Oct - Glasgow RCH; 7th Oct - Sheffield City Hall; 9th Oct - Nottingham RCH; 10th Oct - Liverpool Philharmonic Hall; 12th Oct - Manchester Bridgewater Hall; 14th Oct - Royal Albert Hall, London; 15th Oct - Royal Albert Hall, London; 17th Oct - Bournemouth BIC; 18th Oct - Brighton Centre; 20th Oct - Birmingham Symphony Hall)

While performing at the Edinburgh Fringe in August, they will also be appearing on the live music stage at The Foodies Festival in Edinburgh, The UK's biggest celebration of food and drink, sponsored by Musicians Against Homelessness.

Deke Sharon, Arranger and Musical Director of "Pitch Perfect" said of The Flyboys: "They sing in perfect harmony the way the Blue Angels fly in astoundingly precise synchronisation!" So audiences in Edinburgh in August and around the UK during October can expect to be treated to masterful musical mashups with sublime vocal harmonies as they are whisked back to the golden age of big bands but with an incredibly unique twist!
