The King's Theatre Glasgow and First Family Entertainment are delighted to announce the talented Gregor Fisher will lead a cast of Scottish comedy favourites in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The Rab C. Nesbitt star adds another string to his vest in the role of Hector the Henchman alongside Des Clarke as Muddles and Juliet Cadzow as the Wicked Queen. Eric Potts will direct the festive fairytale adventure at the King's Theatre from Friday 4 December 2015 until Sunday 10 January 2016.
Gregor Fisher first appeared in the King's legendary pantomime as a Robber in Babes in The Wood co-starring Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy in 1981. Over three decades later Gregor is thrilled to be returning to the King's stage: "It's a privilege to be part of this Christmas tradition once again at the beautiful King's Theatre. Returning to pantomime is a slightly daunting but exciting prospect. It'll be a challenge but it's all worthwhile when you hear the audience's reaction and kids laughing, or booing. I'm looking forward to playing the Henchman and working with Juliet Cadzow as the Wicked Queen - we'll be a devilish duo not to be messed with, Mwaa-ha-ha!"
Gregor Fisher is best known to TV audiences for his role as Rab C. Nesbitt in the BBC sitcom and as The Baldy Man in the ITV series. Both characters derived from the comedy sketch show Naked Video. Gregor also starred as the title role in The Tales of Para Handy alongside Rikki Fulton whom he had previously worked with on hit sketch show Scotch and Wry. Gregor's film credits include Love Actually, The Merchant of Venice and Wild Target. Gregor is also recognised for his portrayal of Mr Bumble in the BBC's mini-series Oliver Twist. Most recently he has been cast as a 100 year old diabolical grandmother in the National Theatre of Scotland's Yer Granny.
2014 was a remarkable year for stand-up comedian and Capital FM presenter Des Clarke which included hosting the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, compèring at the MTV EMA Awards, all topped off with a King's panto season as Starkey the Pirate in Peter Pan. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs marks Des' fourth consecutive year in the King's panto. Des, a firm family favourite, will play the role of loveable rogue Muddles.
Juliet Cadzow is again no stranger to the King's famous panto. Juliet first featured in the 1998 production of Sleeping Beauty and again in Cinderella in 2005. Juliet is best known for playing Edie McCredie in the BBC television series Balamory. Other numerous credits include Panto, Pie and a Pint, Rab C. Nesbitt, Wedding Belles and Thicker Than Water for which she was BAFTA nominated as Best Actress. This Christmas Juliet will be casting her spell on King's audiences as the Wicked Queen.
General Manager of the King's Theatre, James Haworth said: "We would like to wish Gregor Fisher, Des Clarke and Juliet Cadzow a warm welcome back into the fold of the King's panto family. With an experienced cast and a strong creative team, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is in safe hands to make its second ever appearance in the history of the King's panto. We promise to deliver another year of family fun-filled entertainment, stunning sets, glittering costumes and side-splitting comedy."
