After a highly successful run in the US, Massachusetts based Old Deerfield Productions brings an exciting new reworking of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Greenside Forest Theatre.

The UK premier of the classic novel is adapted by Lindel Hart and directed by Linda McInerney. This new stage adaptation brings audiences front and centre of the life of Shelley's mythical creature (played by Lindel Hart). The multi-layered reinterpretation of this iconic novel brings a fresh new focus on the emotional relationship between Victor Frankenstein and the Creature he creates. The play dramatically unpacks the Creature's birth, his rejection by his father, his abuse and mounting rage; movingly exploring his superhuman travel around the world in his unrelenting quest to seek connection with his father, Victor Frankenstein.

Frankenstein's ensemble cast includes Colin J. Allen in the roles of Victor Frankenstein, Mr. DeLacey, and William, Jane Williams plays Mary Shelley and Elizabeth and writer, actor Lindel Hart as the Creature.
The production features multi-media projection design from Albanian artist, Florian Canga illustrating the story through light and image that cleverly draws parallels to our troubled present. Of the production Director Linda McInerney comments "This is a wild story that takes the audience on an unforgettable roller-coaster ride through the life experience of the Creature. By highlighting the prescience of Shelley's novel, we hope to further the process of changing our story from one that sanctions dominance over nature to the New Story of an interconnectedness that allows the human race to thrive in respectful relationship with the planet".
