King's & Theatre Royal Glasgow Set Spring 2016 Seasons

This Christmas get your fill of family fun with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the King's Theatre before getting your teeth into the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in the West End phenomenon Jersey Boys, making its Glasgow debut at the Theatre Royal.

2016 serves up mouth-watering musicals including Annie, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Guys and Dolls and the Rocky Horror Show; delectable dramas such as Goodnight Mister Tom, The James Plays and The Mousetrap; and if you're hungry for humour Private Lives, Canned Laughter, The 39 Steps and Breakfast at Tiffany's will satisfy your comedy cravings...that's just for starters!

KING'S THEATRE

Heigh ho, heigh ho it's off to the King's we go for panto season! Scottish comedy legend Gregor Fisher makes his anticipated return to the King's panto alongside Des Clarke, Juliet Cadzow, Jenny Hayley-Douglas and Allan Jay in the brawest panto o' them aw': Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Fri 4 Dec - Sun 10 Jan). Roll in the New Year in true circus tradition with Cirque Berserk (Fri 22 - Sun 24 Jan) presenting the hair-raising Globe of Terror motorcycle stunt and everyone's favourite clown, Tweedy.

Mum's the Word 2 (Tue 26 - Sat 30 Jan) features Gail Porter, Libby McArthur (River City), Susie McGuire (Radio Clyde), Lorraine McIntosh (Deacon Blue) and Julie Wilson Nimmo (Balamory) venting about life with troublesome teenagers, meanwhile the wee ones are kept entertained with Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo's Child (Tue 2 & Wed 3 Feb). It's a Hard Knock Life for Elaine C. Smith as Miss Hannigan when she gets her comeuppance in Annie (Mon 8 - Sat 20 Feb).

Spring brings a regal selection of shows including Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Tue 29 Mar - Sat 2 Apr) starring Blue's Duncan James; a trilogy from the National Theatre of Scotland exploring the history of three generations of Scottish monarchs, The James Plays (Fri 8 - Sun 10 Apr); and celebrating king of pop Michael Jackson, Thriller Live (Mon 18 - Sat 23 Apr) moonwalks on to the stage.

The King's has got the X Factor with not one but two former finalists treading the boards. 2009's winner Joe McElderry dons the coveted coat in

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Tue 10 - Sat 14 May) and you don't wanna be an American Idiot (Tue 31 - Sat 4 Jun) and miss Amelia Lily rocking out in the Green Day musical.

Don't leave it to lady luck and book a ticket now to Guys and Dolls (Tue 7 - Sat 11 Jun) direct from the West End featuring show-stopping tunes including Luck Be A Lady, Sit Down You're Rockin' The Boat and My Time of Day. Kick off those Sunday shoes with Footloose (Mon 13 - Sat 18 Jun), starring Maureen Nolan as Vi Moore, and cut loose to classic 80s hits before Jackie The Musical (Tue 26 - Sat 30 Jul) celebrates the sound of the 70s.

It's just a jump to the left for the world's favourite rock 'n' roll musical - Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show (Mon 8 - Sat 13 Aug) is back due to popular demand with Liam Tamne (Phantom of the Opera, The Voice) strutting his stuff as Frank N. Furter.

THEATRE ROYAL

The Theatre Royal oozes class and sophistication and never more so when presenting Noel Coward's multi-award winning comedy Private Lives (Mon 22 - Sat 27 Feb). Directed by Tom Attenborough and featuring star of Top Hat the Musical and Strictly Come Dancing winner Tom Chambers as the charming Elyot, Private Lives promises to be an elegant evening of wit and glamour.

Michelle Magorian's uplifting children's tale Goodnight Mister Tom (Tue 8 - Sat 12 Mar) is brought to life in this glorious stage production set at the brink of the Second World War following the journey of young evacuee William Beech.

Crack open the gags with Canned Laughter (Tue 15 - Sat 29 Mar) starring Allan Stewart, Andy Gray and Grant Stott as a comedy act who reunite to get their biggest laugh yet! The humour continues with Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps (Mon 16 - Sat 21 May) featuring four fearless actors, playing 139 roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action.

In Breakfast at Tiffany's (Mon 23 - Sat 28 May) Emmerdale's Verity Rushworth takes on the role of Holly Golightly made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the iconic 1961 film. That's Entertainment (Tue 7 - Sat 11 Jun) presents a song and dance extravaganza paying homage to great Broadway composers including Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.

Murder mystery fans rejoice Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap (Mon 12 - Sat 17 Sep), famous for being the longest running show in the history of theatre, will return with its intricate plot creating shuddering suspense.

The Theatre Royal is delighted to announce the Christmas production for 2016 is The Commitments (Mon 12 - Fri 30 Dec) direct from the West End and based on the BAFTA award-wining film. Jimmy Rabbitte, a young working class music fan, shapes an unlikely bunch of amateur musicians and friends into an amazing live act, the finest soul band Dublin has ever produced. The Commitments is a feel good celebration of soul with over 20 classics such as River Deep, Mountain High, Mustang Sally, I Heard It Through The Grapevine and Knock On Wood.
