Theatre lovers with a penchant for the macabre can join a Haunted Theatreland Walking Tour from October to December and hear tales of backstage betrayals and bereavements on the cobbled streets and gas-lit alleyways between Covent Garden and St James's. This atmospheric journey through the darker side of Theatreland's history is punctuated with compelling stories of a ghostly clown, a phantom prompter, spooky superstitions and the eerie Man in Grey.
Dale Cusick, who attended a tour last year, said: "The tour was very illuminating and one of the best I have had. As a regular visitor and theatre-goer, I especially enjoyed learning about some of the historic theatres I have been in. I would highly recommend it."
The Haunted Theatreland tours will take place on the following Sundays, leaving at 18:00 from a Central London location: 26 October, 2 November, 9 November, 16 November, 30 November and 7 December. The 2 November tour will be British Sign Language interpreted.
Each tour costs £10 per person and payment must be made in advance, either online at www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/walkingtours using PayPal, by emailing walkingtours@soltukt.co.uk and paying with a credit/debit card, or by card or cash in person at the TKTS ticket booth in Leicester Square (Mon-Sat from 10:00-19:00, Sun 11:00-16.30).
