Glasgow International Comedy Festival Q&A: Billy Kirkwood Image

Tell us a bit about your show Dad Club.

Myself, John Gavin and Jamie Dalgleish- three working stand ups, three VERY different men. Our thing in common...we're all parents so we formed Dad Club. Chaos in the afternoon. It's part stand up and part chat show. Helping take the time out, let go of the stresses, laugh and get over life.

Do you have any top tips for anything else visitors should do while in Glasgow?

We have some of the most wonderful buildings and museums in the world but I always recommend if you get the chance go check out some our older venues like the Panopticon or the Barrowlands- they have just an energy to them that sends shivers.

And number one...head to George Square, grab a coffee and people watch....Glasgow is a city like no other.

Who would you recommend comes to see you at the festival?

Everyone's welcome. Mums, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, parents or not. It's a funny show, if you want a good time come spent time with us.

Take the jump...we'll catch ye.

And who would you suggest maybe doesn't?

You take yourself too seriously. Don't come.

What sets your show apart from others in the programme?

It's the mischievous mind set. Chaos in the afternoon. Mock The Week, a touch of Impractical Jokers and a touch of Dick and Dom in the Bungalow. The show we hope that debunks the view that someone can be defined by their social situation or home life. We're just three stand ups, regular guys, yes all parents but it gives you a world view from three very different people, three very different comics.

Take me, a hyperactive, ADHD, wrestling-loving, easily distracted father of an autistic son, who works as a stand up comedian, covered from head to foot in tattoos... Lets put it this way...my comedic take on things is going to be a little off kilter.

It's just three stand ups making you laugh in the afternoon...which is great for everyone... Wanna get started on your Saturday early come laugh and have a drink? Parent?...Come laugh have a drink...you don't have to worry about a baby sitter.

We don't have some huge machine, or a team working us or pushing us down your throat.

We're just three working people. We care. We just want to make you laugh.

What's next for you after the Glasgow International Comedy Festival?

I know we're all doing different things comedy related.

I'm heading out of tour later in the year, so be back on the road gigging all over Scotland & England, including working for Insane Championship Wrestling before Squaring up to the Fringe this year.

Never time for an ordinary day.
