The Duchess of Canvey herself, Diane Chorley is inviting you to the grand reopening of her iconic 80s haunt, The Flick on the 1st August 2019 at 11pm. It has been rebuilt brick by brick by both the Assembly team and production company Berk's Nest especially for Diane's eagerly anticipated return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019. This iconic, 80s haunt, planted in the heart of Edinburgh, will serve as a purpose built, immersive venue throughout the festival, for both Diane's daily show Modern Love, which runs from 1st to 25th August at 20:00, and her late night weekend show Down The Flick which runs 2nd - 25th August at 23:00.
To launch this hedonistic paradise, there will be a special launch party at The Flick, Assembly George Sq. Studios on Thursday 1st August 2019. The one and only Diane will be welcoming guests from 11pm at the most anticipated launch party the Edinburgh Fringe has seen in years! Guests will be given a glass of bubbles on arrival (of course) and once inside they can peruse the specially designed cocktail list. Following the uproarious late-night show, complete with a gigantic glitterball (previously owned by Daniel Kitson), Diane will be DJing the biggest tracks of her day as well as mingling with guests - there really aint no party like a Duchess party and it is not one to be missed!
In the 1980s the airways and The Flick purred with the treasured hits of Diane Chorley and now she's back with a roster of brand-new songs. Every weekend of the festival Diane will be joined by the crème de la crème of special guests for special late-night shows and to kick things off on the 1st August she is going to be joined by none other than the legendary and delightful comedian Jack Rooke and the gorgeous American comic Catherine Cohen, both of whom have their own Edinburgh shows.
The Flick is a place where you'll leave with a hundred friends, a place of inclusivity and #nojudgement. When the show's over, the party has only just begun. So, check in your (faux) fur coat, grab a cocktail and prepare to find your community, dancing under the disco ball. *To RSVP please see below contact details*
Diane Chorley says:
"I can't believe it's actually happening; in a matter of days I'll be strutting my stuff around The Flick again like its 1982. I've had my nails did, had a scale and polish and I've been practicing my high kick, by the time you lots see me I'll look like I've been dug out the deep freeze like a Sara Lee Black Forest. I've been working so hard with my gorgeous Assembly lot to make the new Flick as close to the old one as possible, we've been going through old photos, taste testing White Russian's and eating more Scampi fries than you can shake a Peperami at. The launch is going to be the hottest ticket in town, we'll be pouring the drinks that made the glitterati wink and spinning the hits that made the big hair twitch, like they always said back in the day, 'There aint no Party like a Duchess party".
